Greater Miami Convention And Visitors Bureau

Dear GMCVB Partners,

We are pleased to report Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau office has re-opened and our team is actively selling and promoting the destination to visitors.

While the majority of our hotels have reopened, we appreciate updates from all of our partners on your operating status. Please let us know if you are fully operational. If not, please advise your GMCVB Account Manager of your expected opening.

Below are some important updates to share with your staff to keep your team, customers and visitors informed:

Miami Beach Convention Center
The Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC), already undergoing an extensive $615 million renovation, experienced no exterior damage. Currently, the MBCC construction team is further assessing the construction site, and officials do not foresee significant impact, noting all four halls will be available to Art Basel Miami Beach in December.

Miami International Airport
Miami International Airport’s first flight arrived less than 36 hours after the storm’s passing. As the airlines resume normal scheduling, we encourage travelers to confirm flights directly with their carriers.

PortMiami
Cruises are already departing from PortMiami and passengers are encouraged to check their cruise line for the latest information on sailings.

Attractions/Shopping
We’re pleased to report visitors are already enjoying our destination’s many assets, including our popular attractions and shopping throughout the destination.

Restaurants
The majority of our restaurants are open, and many have extended the GMCVB’s Miami Spice Restaurant program through October 31.

Visitor Centers
Twenty-one of 22 Visitor Centers are currently open or will open by September 18; a complete listing is available on our website.

The GMCVB will be launching a post-Irma Marketing Campaign in the coming days and we will be reaching out to you for special offers and updates.

We will also be working closely with our partner, the Greater Miami and The Beaches Hotel Association, to lend support to our industry families in need locally, in the Florida Keys and the Caribbean. In the meantime, we encourage you to consider contributing to Hurricane Irma relief efforts via the American Red Cross.

Sincerely,

William Talbert, III, CDME
