London, February 28th 2008 - The Association of Tourist Office Representatives (ANTOR) is to widen its membership criteria. The new membership drive is seeking to attract Government Embassies with no specific Tourist Board representative and Associate membership for airlines. ANTOR was founded in 1952 and currently has over 60 countries represented. The Association, is soon to launch a new website, as part of a drive to generate consumer awareness of the Association and in particular the services offered by its members. ANTOR’s current Chair, Tracey Poggio, Gibraltar Tourist Board said: “ANTOR members collectively, have a large impact on influencing destination sell. What the Association hopes to achieve, is a greater awareness of the information and services our members can offer all audience types from the travel trade, the consumer and media. Our future strength lies with our united expertise and experience as global travel marketers.” ANTOR recently co-hosted an industry seminar with ABTA covering topics such as destination crisis management and will later this year work with the Passenger Shipping Association to host an internationally attended conference on the impact of the cruise industry on tourism.
