ANTOR, the Association of National Tourist Office Representatives, held a ‘Meet the Media’ reception in London this week to afford members the opportunity to promote their destinations to a wide range of specialist travel journalists. The event was supported by over 30 National Tourist Offices covering such regions as the Caribbean, Asia, Europe and the Middle East and was attended by over 60 journalists from a wide spectrum of consumer, trade and broadcast media. The event also provided an opportunity to officially introduce Esther Smith, the newly appointed Secretariat of ANTOR. Smith’s role is to develop membership for the Association, increase the tangible benefits of membership and boost the Association’s profile among the travel trade and media. She was previously the of UK director for the St Kitts Tourist Board and chairwoman of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation. Commenting on Smith’s appointment, Tracey Poggio of the Gibraltar Tourism Office and Chairman of ANTOR, said, “We are delighted to welcome Esther as our new Secretariat. Her energy and enthusiasm is legendary in the travel industry and we look forward to the benefits that she will bring to ANTOR, both in terms of attracting new members and in taking the Association forward to greater strengths”.
